The Savoie Region.

There are plenty of non-sporting activities that are easily accessible.

Historic Town of Annecy – 50 mins
Annecy lies on the shores of Lac d’Annecy. The stunning landscape around Annecy, taking in the water and the mountains, is best viewed from the castle – looking down over the town. The old town has an almost Italian flair – seek out the Italian wells. A colourful market is held on Tuesday, Friday and Sunday mornings selling a wide selection of local produce including regional cheeses.

Historic Town of Yvoir – 1 hour 10 mins
A quaint town on the shore of Lake Geneva. The town has retained its medieval character. There are many restaurants but the best are those renowned for their fish specialities. For those wanting to picnic, the harbour is a pretty and relaxing place to set up camp.

Geneva
For many this is simply the place where holidays start and end. However, Geneva is a beautiful city and makes a super day out. The Old Town with its historical streets and buildings, the museums and monuments recall Geneva's rich past. Now a cosmopolitan city you can enjoy almost every city activity – chic window shopping including of course legendary Swiss watches and cuckoo clocks, visit a museum including the International Red Cross and Red Crescent Museum, visit the home of the UN and stand in the footsteps of Nelson Mandela and Koffi Annan or relax by the water and marvel at the Jet d’Eau propelling water up to 140 meters high.
Lake Geneva/Lac Leman – 40 mins
The lake is ideal for sailing, rowing, water-skiing and, of course, swimming, which is a "pure" pleasure, literally speaking.
Chamonix – 1 hour
The French mountaineering capital, Chamonix offers mountain thrills all year round. During the winter Chamonix is one of the best equipped ski resorts in France and home of the famous Vallee Blanche run which is 17km long with a vertical descent of 2800m (guide essential). In the summer you can enjoy walking, climbing, mountain biking mountaineering and even glacier walking on the Mer de Glace. For those happier looking inside you can venture into the Mer de Glace Grotto at the top of the Montenvers railway.
